What to do while you wait for a plumber
A few careful steps can limit the damage before Samcon gets to a leak. Only do what you can do safely, and keep away from electrics near water.
Closing the main stopcock
In many homes the main stopcock sits near the water meter at the boundary, or where the supply pipe comes into the house, often near the kitchen or an outside tap. Turn it clockwise to close it, then open a cold tap to check the water has stopped.
A leaking geyser
Switch the geyser off at the distribution board, then close the cold water isolating valve on the pipe that feeds the geyser. Do not open the geyser or touch wiring around it. If you can, photograph the leak and the rating plate on the geyser to share when you get in touch.
A blocked toilet or drain
Stop flushing and avoid running basins, showers or machines that drain into the same pipe, so the blockage does not overflow while you wait. Then send Samcon a message with where it is and what is happening, or call 081 468 9948.
